      BMW unveils revamped BMW 3-series sedan

      The German based auto maker, BMW has officially revealed its redesigned BMW 3-series sedan 2012. Initially, there was a lot of speculation regarding the launch of the new sedan, which is also known as F30. The BMW 3-series 2012 will be the only model in a six cars line-up, which is expected to include a five-door GT and a four-door GranCoupe. The revamped model is expected to hit the North American market during February 2012.

      The sixth generation BMW 3-series sedan is expected to take the standard BMW 3-series qualities to the next level. According to the Head of Research and Development team at BMW, Klaus Draeger, the new BMW 3-series sedan is the company's most ambitious engineering programme till date. Company officials said that the price will be about 3% higher than the highly acclaimed fifth generation 3-series sedan that is currently on sale.

      The car has been redesigned on a major level and would display huge difference from the previous model. F30 has been given a bigger and spacious design, but is still lighter in weight. The 40 kg lighter structure of the new 3-series sedan is expected deliver a better performance. Moreover, this model will be more economical, compared to its previous version.

      BMW 3-series F30 will be available in 4 variants, which will include 2 diesel and 2 petrol based engines. The BMW 328i will be powered with 2-litre, 4 cylinder petrol engine capable of delivering 240 hp of maximum power and peak torque of 350 Nm. The 335i petrol variants will be assembled with a more powerful engine that is expected to generate maximum power of 306 hp. On the other hand, the diesel variants namely, BMW 320d and BMW 320d, will be powered with a TwinPower turbocharged engine, capable of delivering maximum power of 163 hp.

      The interior styling of the new BMW 3-series F30 is also expected to showcase major improvisations. The company has done an interior re-modelling and created a suave and spacious version. The initial 3-series model received a lot of criticism for its poor styling and lesser cabin space. With the help of the new sedan model, BMW is expected to successfully compensate the losses.
