The Indian two-wheeler market is set to be flooded with more sports bikes as Stephan Schaller, head of BMW’s division of motorcycles, has said, in an interview to MotorcycleNews, that the range of sub-500 cc vehicles will be showcased in India in 2015. Notably, this bike range will be developed in collaboration with Indian firm TVS motor company. Spy pictures of a bike co-developed by TVS and BMW have already been revealed and rumours are rife that these new models will be fitted with 300 cc engines.

It is being said that three version of BMW-TVS bikes will be launched in India. Speaking in an interview, Schaller said, “The small capacity bikes are still on target for us in terms of the timetable which means this time next year the bikes will be presented.”

“We will keep the original timing, but maybe we have to put a little bit more resource into this to keep with the schedule. In one year’s time I think we can start talking about the new bikes. The design and engineering are done by BMW in Munich and then TVS is doing much of the work to get these bikes ready for production,” he said adding further. There are strong indications that the new models are going to be showcased at the Intermot motorcycle show in Cologne, which is held in October 2015.
