BMW Motorsports has teased the M4 GT4 ahead of the promised reveal this week. The M4 racing car has been in development since a year now, also made surprise appearances late last year and earlier this year at BMW conference in Munich and 24-hour race season starters in Abu Dhabi, respectively. The M4 GT4 would enter into the fray for the 2018 season

As can be seen in the teased image, the front splitters are similar to the GTS, but it now gets a canard on the side with a more aerodynamic front bumper. On the other end, the rear diffuser is expected to be more aggressive in order to generate racing level of downforce. The bonnet and doors would be made of carbon-fibre while it will gain an FIA-standard roll cage, on the inside. The exhaust and suspension would also be race prepped.

The M4 racing car would enter into the fray for the 2018 season. It would be conforming to the GT4 regulations, which means it will be down on power compared to the mad GTS version. However, technology from the GTS is expected to filter through in the race car. The GT4 will retain the road-going M4’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six engine with all the confined GT4 class regulations.

In the BMW Motorsport family, the M4 GT4 is positioned between the M235i Racing and the M6 GT3. Expect to see the GT4 burn some rubber at events such as 24-Hours Endurance Nurburgring, against the likes of Aston Martin Vantage GT4 and Porsche Cayman GT4.
