German premium car manufacturer BMW is planning to reintroduce the CSL badge for its M-badged cars. Back in the 1970s, the company’s racecars received the CSL badging and in recent times it was seen on the M3 which went out of production in 2004.

For those who are unaware about what CSL stands for – it stands for Coupe, Sport, Lightweight; which also clearly means that the M-badged SUVs and crossovers will not get the new badging. With the new revision in badging, we can expect to see the M2 being rebadged as the M2 CSL and the M8. The traditional CSL cars featured less mass and sharper package which was first seen on the stunning 3.0 CSL built to compete in the European Touring Car Championship. The car was popularly nicknamed as the "the Batmobile”.
