      BMW launches X4 in India at Rs 60.60 lakhs

      The BMWX4 coupe SUV has been launched in India at Rs 60.60 lakhs (All-India ex-showroom). it is being offered in two diesel and one petrol powered variant. There are four colour options and AWD is standard for the entire range. This SUV is a unique offering in this part of the market and has been brought into the country via local assembly at BMW’s Chennai plant. All versions of the SUV have been kitted out with the M Sport X trim package.

      The new X4 gets an identical fascia akin to the new-gen X3 in form of trapezoidal headlamps which are flanked by large kidney grille. This X4 gets its character from the low-slung roofline that sweeps towards the rear deck. The rear gets slim three-dimensional L-shaped tail lights and a bumper-mounted number plate. All variants of the car have been trimmed out in the M Sport X package with sportier front and rear bumpers and body-coloured cladding as a part of the design.

      The interior gets sport seats for driver and front passenger impress with their numerous adjustment options. The 40:20:40 split capacity makes rear backrest even more versatile. All versions get an electrically operated sun roof, ambient lighting with six selectable light designs creates an atmosphere for every mood and a welcome light carpet.

      This India spec BMW X4 comes with innovative technologies such as the BMW Display Key that allows drivers to keep in contact with their car round the clock. Hands do the talking with BMW Gesture Control, which is part of a rigorously thought-out operating concept that recognizes six pre-defined hand movements for control of a number of functions. The smartphone holder integrated into the centre console allows inductive wireless charging for mobile phones and BMW display key. Parking and manoeuvring is made easier with the help of parking assistant along with the rear view camera and park distance control.

      The 20d variant is 2.0-litre diesel producing 190bhp/400Nm while the 30d with 3.0-litre inline-6 producing 265bhp/620Nm. The single petrol variant is a 30i with a 3.0-litre inline six petrol producing 185bhp/350Nm. All variants get an eight-speed AT with All wheel drive as standard.
      In terms of pricing, the BMW X4 takes on the likes of the Jaguar F-Pace, Volvo XC60, Lexus NX and Audi Q5 but is a unique offering thanks to the body style. In terms of direct body style, this car rivals the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe but being a CBU and an AMG spec model, it is quite a bit more expensive than the X4.
