      BMW India to introduce up to 10 new cars in the next two years

      The Indian arm of BMW, a world renowned German luxury automotive marque, has decided to up the ante against rivals Audi and Mercedes-Benz in the domestic car market. The country's leading premium car seller has revealed intentions to introduce not one or two, but up to 10 brand new models across different segments by the end of 2014 calendar year.

      BMW India has decided to tap the growing demand for luxury automobiles among the young performance oriented domestic car enthusiasts. Accordingly, the upcoming BMW cars are going to be sporty, classy and ultra modish, besides pertaining with the needs and requirements of Indian youth. Industry sources suggest that the Bavarian car maker could enter previously ignored segments of the Indian auto market, thereby offering a comprehensive product portfolio to its audience.

      As per reports, the German automotive player will first introduce its much awaited, big European hit, the 1 Series premium hatchback range in the country. The BMW 1 Series has garnered some impressive sales in the auto markets it has been launched till date, which explains the immense hype and media interest surrounding its arrival at Indian shores. The 1 Series premium hatchbacks will be the company's cheapest model in the domestic car market and could carry price tags in the range between Rs. 16 lakhs and Rs. 20 lakhs in the country.

      Following the launch of 1 Series premium hatch range, the German auto maker is anticipated to introduce many renowned models, such as the 4 Series luxury coupe, 4 Series Convertible, 4 Series Gran Coupe and the 2 Series sedan range in India. Further, the cutting edge BMW i3 and i8 electric hybrid vehicles could also be introduced in the country, however, the chances look slightly weak at the moment. Top industry sources indicate that BMW India will also launch its high end sport machines like the X5, 5 Series GT facelift and the M3 sports car in the Indian market, in order to attract the big power and performance oriented buyers.

      At present, BMW contributes to the bulk of sales recorded in the Indian luxury automobile space and is closely followed by its German compatriot Audi and Mercedes-Benz. The competition is getting hotter every other day and it is going to be interesting to see how Audi and Mercedes-Benz responds to BMW's overtly aggressive plans of new model launches
