      BMW India plans five launches by year end

      At the recent launch of BMW’s tweaked X3 SUV, the company proclaimed its plans to bring their performance oriented models to domestic market. Among the new vehicles slated to launch in India, M3 sedan, M4 coupe, M5 sedan and M6 Cope are included. From its M family, BMW will first bring M3 sedan and M4 coupe to domestic market. Both the vehicles are expected to be introduced by the end of this year. M3 sedan and M4 Coupe are largely same varying primarily in body style.

      Powering the vehicles will be a mighty 3.0 litre, six-cylinder, twin-turbo engine that generates a top power output of 431 Hp between 5500 RPM to 7300 RPM along with a peak torque of 550 Nm between 1850 RPM to 5500 RPM. A six-speed manual transmission will be mated to the engine, the company could also offer seven-sped dual-clutch automatic transmission as optional. On the performance front, M4 AT hits the 100 kmph mark in just 4.1 seconds while MT variant is a tad slower and takes 6.1 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph.

      M5 LCI (Life Cycle Impulse) of M5 facelift will house the athletic 4.4 litre V8, twin-turbocharged petrol powertrain that is good for 560 Hp of top power and 680 Nm of peak torque.

      Power is supplied to the rear wheels through a seven-speed twin clutch automatic transmission. Tweaks will also be made to the exteriors that comprise of new front and rear bumpers, LED head lights and tail lamps.

      M6 Coupe on the other hand will get the robust 4.4 litre, V8 DOHC engine with Double-VANOS variable valve timing. The engine churns out towering power of 560 Hp at 6000 RPM along with a pinnacle torque of 678 Nm at 1500 RPM.

      The last vehicle to be introduced this year will be the i8 hybrid super car that will come fitted with a 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine and an electric motor. Petrol engine and electric motor can work in symbioses and individually also. The vehicles sprints from 0 to 100 kmph in only 4.4 seconds and attains a top speed mark of 250 kmph. BMW i8 hybrid supercar is claimed to return an excellent fuel economy of 40 kmpl.
