The BMW i8 Plug-in hybrid sportscar is powered by a 1.5-litre three-cylinder twin scroll turbocharged engine that churns out a maximum power output of 231bhp and a peak torque of 320Nm. Power is transmitted to rear wheels of the car via a six-speed automatic transmission gearbox. The front wheels of the car are clubbed with an electric motor via a two-stage automatic box, which is good for 131bhp and is coupled to a 5kWh lithium-ion battery. The combined power output and torque value is 362bhp and 570Nm, respectively. The car accelerates to 100kmph from zero in mere 4.4 seconds and is claimed to return an impressive mileage of 39.9kmpl (European cycle). The customers will also have three driving modes- Comfort, Sport and Pro.

Other than i8 sports hybrid, BMW India will also launch a series of new cars and facelifts in 2015. The company will introduce 2015 BMW x6, updated 6 Series, 3-Series facelift, and 1 Series facelift in 2015.
