The BMW 6 Series GT test mule was spied testing in cold weather, and this is BMW’s first shot at the model which is expected to replace the slow selling 5 Series GT.

Once ready, the 6 Series GT will offer a more luxurious experience than the 5 Series GT and going by the looks of the test car, we reckon that it is very close to the production model. Thanks to the chunky air vents in the front bumper and the blue brake callipers, one can easily confirm that this vehicle is equipped with the optional M Sport package. In spite of the heavy camouflage, the design lines around the nose of this test car is comparable to the latest 5 Series saloon.

Expect the 6 Series GT, despite the larger dimensions, to shed a considerable amount of weight (compared to the 5 Series GT) since it is expected to be based on the CLAR platform. Reports also state that the car will use a range of petrol and diesel motors like the 4.4-litre biturbo V8 from the 650i and the 3.0-litre inline-six from the 750d. There’s no official word from BMW about when the 6 Series GT will hit the international arena, but it should be in showrooms in early 2018. Stay tuned for CarTrade for more information.
