The 5 Series range in India includes the 530d M Sport with a six cylinder diesel engine. This new addition has been priced at Rs 54 lakh ex-showroom and is being locally assembled at BMW’s Chennai facility.

On the outside, the 520d M Sport gets 18-inch M lightweight alloys featuring a double spoke design, different front bumper, side skirts with additional contour lines and exhaust pipe finished in dark chrome. The adaptive LED headlights, ‘M’ badge on front wings and M designation on the door sill strip complete the visual look. Inside this executive sedan you will find sporty front seats and M multifunction steering wheel.

The 520d M Sport is powered by the same old 1995cc diesel engine with 190bhp and an impressive 400Nm of torque. Despite the car’s heft, it takes just 7.7 seconds to sprint from 0-100kmph and hit a top speed of 233kmph. The engine is paired to an eight-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox with paddle shifters behind the steering wheel.

BMW India now sells the 5 Series in two diesel engine options (520d and 530d) which are locally produced in Chennai and a petrol engine (520i) available as a completely built-up unit.
