The concept of motorcycle taxis is expected to ease heavy traffic congestion on roads while also providing easy and affordable traveling options to customers. Reportedly, the plan is currently on discussion and is likely to be finalized soon. The riders would be wearing uniforms and carry two helmets – one for pillion rider and one for himself. Speaking more on the chaos outside metro stations, Bhati Arora, joint commissioner of police (traffic) said, “We had asked the RTA if the number of autos could be limited at these points, but they had said it was not feasible. The plan for bike taxis started after a private player approached us.”

Experts however do not feel comfortable with the idea as due to issue like comfort for women and safety concerns for Pillion riders. Going by records, two-wheelers have been involved in more accidents that the autorikshaws. So it is yet to be seen if this idea materializes anytime soon.
