American carmaker Ford Motor Co. has been a major contributor to the American economy. To herald the auto industry turnaround which is indeed one of the brightest spots in the recovering U.S. economy, American President Barack Obama has planned a visit to Ford Motor Co. plant in Wayne tomorrow. The visit to the plant is part of Obama's multi city tour to highlight his administration's successes in preparation for his Jan. 20 State of the Union address.
At the plant he shall be guided on a tour by a Ford worker who shall shed some light on different operational level at the plant. in September 2009 the company has invested about $550 million in its Michigan Assembly plant, in part owing to a low-cost $5.9 billion loan through the Energy Department's Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing Loan Program. This arrangement has helped Ford upgrade 13 factories in about six states. David Cole, chairman emeritus of the Center for Automotive Research, believes that Ford indeed was the safest bet as a venue for the tour with the auto industry turnaround, rather than GM, which has come under scrutiny for ignition problems in recent past.
