Bajaj has launched its new commuter motorcycle that borrows metal from INS Vikrant and is called the V15 at Rs 63,160 (ex-showroom Delhi). Introduction of the new V brand, which will co-exist with the Discover, is Bajaj’s attempt at drawing in more numbers in the commuter segment.

Bajaj has taken a completely new approach with the V15. Though it is underpinned by a revised version of the Avenger’s double cradle type frame, the fuel tank, side panels, chrome-rimmed headlamp and tail lamp are all new. The idea here seems to be to have a different looking bike which doesn’t exactly follow a known genre. It is part cruiser, part café racer and part commuter. The V15 also gets a removable rear cowl while its instrument cluster, which comprises of a speedometer and fuel gauge, is pretty basic.

The Bajaj V15 is powered by a 150cc single-cylinder engine that delivers 12bhp and 13Nm of torque. It is mated to a five-speed transmission. The gearbox gets a heel and toe shifter with a one down four up shift pattern. The 18-inch front wheel rides on conventional 33mm telescopic front forks while the 16-inch rear wheel rides on regular coil over units. The Bajaj V15 gets a disc at the front and a drum at the rear to handle braking duties.

The Bajaj V15 is offered in two dual-tone paint schemes - ebony black and pearl white.
