Developments in Bajaj-Renault-Nissan's ultra-cheap car project do not seem to get over anytime soon. In a new development, the companies have confirmed there will no longer be a joint venture but rather the companies will cooperate separately to produce and market the car.

According to the last statement made by Rajiv Bajaj, MD, Bajaj Motors, Bajaj will take care of manufacturing aspect of the car development project while Renault-Nissan will cater to marketing and sales of the model under their own brand umbrella.

“We can fulfil our mutual objective through a simple original equipment manufacturer (OEM) arrangement and without the need to necessarily create a new corporate entity in the form of a joint venture,” the company said in a statement.

However, Renault still remains sceptical about the marketing and sales aspect of the car which is evident from Renault’s country General Manager, Marc Nassif’s statement, “”Renault will take a call on the marketability of the ULC (only) after they have seen the actual product.”

The final outcome of the joint venture still remains to be seen as the speculations in the auto industry keep doing rounds.
