      Bajaj Qute

Bajaj Qute quadricycle will be launched in India on 18 April. The upcoming quadricycle can be registered as a private as well as a commercial vehicle. Back in November 2018, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) added quadricycles to the ‘non-transport’ category. Back in March, we learnt that the Qute will be available at a starting price of Rs 2.63 lakhs (ex-showroom, India), while the CNG variant will be available for an additional cost of Rs 20,000 at Rs 2.83 lakhs.

Under the hood, the four-seat Bajaj Qute is powered by a 216cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled DTSi engine that produces 13bhp of power at 5,500rpm and 18.9Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. The engine comes mated to a dashboard-mounted five-speed manual gearbox. The quadricycle is capable of reaching a top speed of 70kmph. The Qute will, however, miss out on features like air-conditioning and disc brakes.

In terms of dimensions, the Qute measures 2,752mm in length, 1,312mm in width and 1,652mm in height with a wheelbase of 1,925mm. The vehicle with a roof rack can hold up to 40kgs of luggage, while the boot in the front is capable of carrying luggage of up to 20kgs. The Qute quadricycle weighs a mere 425kgs. It is believed that post-launch, the Bajaj Qute can be registered as a commercial vehicle in 20 states and as a private vehicle in 15 states.
