The Society of Automotive Engineers India (SAEINDIA) is all-set to take part in the upcoming Auto Expo 2012 with BAJA SAEINDIA's competition All-Terrian Vehicles (ATVs), which would emerge as a rare category at the show. The 11th edition of Asia's largest automotive show is to be held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from 7th January to 11th January 2012. This time round, the competition has been organised through the initiatives of Mahindra & Mahindra and enthusiasts representing a host of engineering colleges would participate to race against each other.
Speaking on the upcoming Auto Expo, Dr. Pawan Goenka, President, Automotive & Farm Equipment Sectors, Mahindra & Mahindra said, “Innovation and ideas are the benchmark of young India, as is evident in the display of the All-Terrain Vehicles at the Auto Expo. These eco-friendly, aerodynamic automobiles, which are created by college student teams, give budding engineers the opportunity to showcase their talent to large number of professionals within the automotive industry. I am sure that in times to come, Indian students will compete with the very best globally through the BAJA forum”.
SAEINDIA has been a great driving force for students that strive to bring forth path-breaking productions in the field of automotive technology. At the same time, SAEINDIA further motivates young minds by offering them a platform to prove their mettle. The SAE Mini BAJA competition was founded at the University of South Carolina in 1976, headed by Dr. John F. Stevens. It has continuously developed itself to emerge as a highly popular engineering design series that takes place under the sponsorship of SAE International, every year. After the Auto Expo, these ATVs will a part of the 5th edition of BAJA SAEINDIA that will commence from 17th January to 19th January 2012 at Pithampur, Indore.
Thus, with ATVs making their entry into the Auto Expo 2012, the mega event is likely to showcase a wide range of vehicles and possibly become the biggest ever show with limitless variety.
