      Auto major Maruti Suzuki likely to witness 8% to 10% sales growth

      Maruti Suzuki, which accounts for over 45% of Indian car market, witnessed a drop in its growth by over 30% last year. However, General Manager and Commercial Business Head (South) of Maruti Suzuki, Manohar Bhat commented on 19th August 2011 that during the festival season company is likely to experience a hike of 8% to 10% this year. Selling around 12,000 units every month, Maruti Suzuki is targeting to sell 17,000 units of the new Swift model by next year.

      Chief General Manager (Marketing) of Maruti Suzuki, Shanshank Srivastava after the launch of new version of 'Swift', revelled that company is planning a investment of Rs.6,000 crore, part of which will be invested in building vehicle stock yards in India. He further added that the first stock yard of Maruti Suzuki in Bangalore, which has capacity to park 2,000 units, recently became operational. Furthermore, he revelled that company is planning to open its second yard in Nagpur. He also told that Madhya Pradesh is one of the other locations that are being decided for opening of the stock yard.

      Shanshank Srivastava also informed that out of Rs.6,000 crore investment, Rs.1,800 crore will be  spent on the second manufacturing unit at Manesar near Delhi. Addressing the media, he said that company is also planning to set-up a third manufacturing unit at Manesar by investing Rs.1,900 crore. Besides, the remaining resource from Rs.6,000 crore will be spent on developing a R&D facility at Rohtak (Haryana) and opening up of new stock yards and brand centres.

      For showcasing the products, Maruti Suzuki is further conceptualizing of setting up 14 brand centres across the country. Shanshank Srivastava said that the location for the brand centres have not yet been finalised. He added that the sales graph of Maruti Suzuki had swiftly risen after selling around 12,000 units every month. At the launch of new Swift version, he said that 30% market share in the premium hatchback segment belong to Maruti Suzuki Swift.
