      Auto Expo 2012: Renault revealed the price of its new model, Pulse

      The French automobile manufacturer, Renault has finally announced the price of its new model Pulse at the Delhi Auto Expo 2012. The company has launched its base model with a price tag of Rs. 5.77 Lacs, ex-showroom Delhi. Pulse is the third model launched by the company in the Indian automobile market. Renault Pulse was unveiled for the first time in India during F1 Grand Prix in October 2011. F1 drivers, Karun Chandhok and Mark Webber, were present during the unveiling of the car. 

      Renault Pulse was designed in a Mumbai design studio. The model is equipped with the Renault K9K diesel engine assisted by a 5-speed transmission that delivers peak power of 61 hp and maximum torque of 160 Nm. Renault Pulse is the first hatchback model to be unveiled in a diesel engine.

      The new Renault Pulse claims to be top class in terms of performance as well as fuel efficiency. According to the reports by ARAI, the model has fuel efficiency of 23.08 kmpl. The model will be available in the Indian automobile market in two trim versions, namely the RxL and RxZ.

      Renault Pulse RxZ will be the top-end model that is expected to cost around Rs. 6.25 Lacs, ex-showroom Delhi. RxZ will come with a host of safety and comfort features, such as automatic climate control, lock/unlock sensing folding outside rear view mirrors, dual airbags and illuminated engine start/stop button. The other version, RxL will include all power windows, follow-me headlamps, rear wiper and washer, integrated audio system and driver airbag.

      The French automaker is planning to launch 5 additional vehicles in the year 2012. Katsumi Nakamura, EVP Asia Africa, Renault s.a.s was present at the Delhi Auto Expo event. He stated, “India is an integral part of our global growth strategy and we are gratified with the way Indian customers have accepted Renault products. The successful launching of three quality products within 8 months is a milestone for Renault not only in India but globally. Renault India is all set to take another firm step towards its commitment and pleased to announce the launch of Renault PULSE in India.”

      Apart from announcing the price of the Renault Pulse, the company introduced its other models at the Auto Expo, namely Megane hatchback, Duster and Lotus Renault F1 car. The customers who are interested in purchasing the Renault Pulse can choose from six different colours – Solid Black, Champagne Gold, Metallic Red, Metallic Grey, Pearl White and Metallic Silver. Renault Pulse would be competing against Hyundai i20, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Nissan Micra and Ford Figo.

      Marc Nassif, Managing Director, Renault India commented, “We have come a long way to what we had committed two years back to our Indian customers on the previous Auto Expo. The PULSE is a product designed and developed by our India design studio at Mumbai, focusing on the Indian customers’ aspirations, tastes and preferences.” He added that the company is confident about Renault Pulse as this new model may turn out to be the turning point for the company in India.
