Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), the largest car maker in the country on Thursday, said that it will mark its debut in the multi-purpose vehicle segment by March this year with the launch of Ertiga. The much awaited vehicle has already been unveiled at the auto expo 2012, where a large number of auto enthusiasts were present to take a glimpse of this new entrant in the Indian auto market.
The company has said that new Maruti Ertiga model will be carrying an attractive price tag in the country, where it will be competing with the like of Toyota Innova and Mahindra Xylo.
With the launch of new Ertiga model, the company looks forward to strengthen its position in the Indian auto market. As per an estimate, the utility vehicle segment accounts for 14 percent of the Indian automobile industry, out of which MUV account for a major portion. The new Ertiga model will be carrying a K-14 VVT 1.4 litre engine, and will be manufactured at the firm’s Gurgaon plant.
