The Delhi International Auto Expo, which is held once in two years in the National Capital, is just round the corner with its 11th edition next month. This time around, the Delhi Auto Expo will be for four days (from 7th to 11th January 2012). The excitement and enthusiasm among car makers and car lovers at its best as a large number of new cars and future concepts will be debuted at this show.

Moreover, this time the equations in the Indian market are quite different as compared to the equations during last edition of this show. The year 2011 has been a roller coaster ride for the Indian automobile industry. After registering a heavy sales growth in the first quarter of this calendar year, the Indian automobile industry witnessed a decline of 9 percent in car sales during July-September quarter. And now in the last quarter of the year, the situation is even worse with high car loan interest rates and skyrocketing fuel prices. In addition to this, the weakening value of Indian rupee in the international market is further affecting the margins of car makers.

However, the auto expo 2012 is expected to bring back the growth momentum in the Indian market, same as was experienced during the last edition of the Auto expo. Last time too, the Indian market was struggling with slow down of sales due to global economic slowdown, and the event of auto expo proved a major booster in the growth of the Indian automobile industry, in January 2010.
