During the 2012 Auto Expo, General Motors owned brand Chevrolet made headlines due to the unveiling of Multi Utility Vehicle (MUV), called Enjoy. At the mega event, the company showcased a prototype of Enjoy, which received a good response from the industry critics. At that point of time, the prototype was not given any particular name and was directly imported from the Chinese wing of General Motors. The car, having taller and wider dimensions, was reportedly based on the CN platform of General Motors.

After making its debut at the last year's Auto Expo, Chevrolet officially launched the Enjoy MUV during May 2013. The company adopted an aggressive pricing strategy to boost its sales. The Managing Director and President of General Motors India, Lowell Paddock, was quoted as saying "The Enjoy will compete in one of the fastest growing segments in India. We expect that this model will be a success considering its attributes and pricing.” The car was launched in the Indian car market at a price of Rs. 5.49 lakh for the base petrol variant while the introductory rate of diesel version was Rs. 6.69 lakh.

Currently there are six variants of Chevrolet Enjoy available in the Indian car market, out of which three are petrol powered, while remaining are equipped with a diesel powertrain. The name of these variants are LS, LT and LTZ, each available in both in petrol and diesel engine options. The top-end LTZ variant is fitted with a number of safety features like Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and airbags. As far as the engine and specifications are concerned, Enjoy has a 1.4-litre petrol motor that produces a maximum power of 102 bhp and 131 Nm of highest torque. On the other hand, the diesel version is provided with a 1.3-litre engine that is capable of generating peak output of 75 bhp while churning out torque of 188 Nm. Both the engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gearboxes.

In terms of fuel efficiency, Chevrolet claims that the petrol version of Enjoy can render a mileage of 18.2 kmpl. However, in reality it is said that in city conditions, the car delivers a fuel economy of around 12.5 kmpl. The diesel variant, as per company claims, gives a mileage of 17 kmpl, which is expected to change according to different road conditions. For safety and security of passengers, the body structure of the Chevrolet Enjoy has a Safe-Cage Design that comes along with 10 Collision Protection Beams, constructed from high strength steel. The design also features crumple zones and side impact beam in doors, which further enhances the safety of passengers.

Chevrolet Enjoy squares off against the likes of Mahindra Xylo and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in the Indian car market. it must be noted that the Ertiga is much more powerful than Enjoy and is also backed by the brand value and strong dealership network of country's largest passenger car maker. Now with 2014 Auto Expo fast approaching, Chevrolet might be thinking of unveiling its new models, in order to generate a buzz among the price sensitive Indian buyers. Industry experts feel that it will be interesting to see as to what type of vehicles the brand showcases in the near future.
