Audi had lost the top position in the local luxury vehicle segment in 2015 and currently holds the third spot behind Mercedes-Benz and BMW. This time around, in an effort to reclaim its lost position, the company is planning to introduce affordable products below the A3 sedan and the Q3 SUV. The new cars are expected to debut over a period of next two-three years. These products will be introduced in the SUV, sedan and the hatchback segments.

The new models are expected to be priced betweeen Rs 22 lakhs to Rs 25 lakhs. It is also believed that Audi might introduce the Q2 SUV in India, however, the company is yet to confirm the same. What’s more, the company will focus on double-digit product launches every year starting this year.

Despite higher tax structure for luxury cars in India, the German car manufacturer will continue investing in the country. Speaking to media, Rahil Ansari, Audi India’s brand head, said, “India is a strategic market and we will continue to invest, however, currently the tax structure is very unfavourable which is preventing us from going full throttle in investment.”

Additional details about the new models will be known in the days to come.
