The latest generation of the Audi A4 has been unveiled in a more appealing long-wheelbase form. Shown at the ongoing Beijing Motor Show, this stretched version of the regular A4 (labelled A4 L) has been designed specifically for the Chinese market. At 4.81m in length, it's 40mm longer than the previous A4 L and comes with additional legroom for the rear seat occupants.

The A4 L can be had in either of the two petrol engine options, both 2-litre TFSI motors but with different tunes. There’s the 190bhp version or the more powerful 250bhp version, both paired to Audi's 7-speed S-tronic gearbox.

Chinese premium car buyers are known for prioritising rear seat space and comfort above all else. This also explains how long wheelbase versions, over the years, have become so popular in China. Besides the A4 L, this year’s Beijing Motor Show has also hosted public debuts of long-wheelbase versions of the BMW X1, the Mercedes E-Class and the Jaguar XF.
