Audi, the Germany based premium automaker from the multinational automotive manufacturing empire Volkswagen Group, has revealed that the cars manufactured by the company for their Indian buyers are incorporated with special horns to cater to the need of the country’s drivers of continuous honking.

The auto giant commented that in the Indian portfolio, the horn sets itself as a distinct category. With the rising enthusiasm for luxury cars in the Indian market, Audi India is accordingly adapting its production pattern to suit the diverse needs of its buyers that also comprises of modification of the horns.

Mr. Michael Perschke, Director of Audi India, stated that "You take a European horn and it will be gone in a week or two. With the amount of honking in Mumbai, we do on a daily basis what an average German does on an annual basis."

He further said, "The horn is tested differently - with two continuous weeks only of honking, the setting of the horn is different, with different suppliers."

In the adverse driving conditions on the Indian roads, where different kinds of transport modes rival up for space, the quality and durability of the horns is the main determinant to move through the heavy traffic.

Another adaptation implemented for the Indian Audi owners comes in the form of redesigned car interior that enables the owners to be in a commanding position even from the rear seat.
