Audi India, the third largest luxury car maker in the country, may launch its S6 and Q3 models in the domestic market next year. This will set the ball rolling for 2012, the year in which the German auto maker hopes to surpass its competitors, Mercedes Benz and BMW in the country.

The sedan, S6, and the small Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), Q3, will be showcased at the 2012 New Delhi Auto Expo next month before being officially launched in India. The company aims to sell 40 per cent more cars next year and both these models will be crucial for achieving this ambitious target. Apart from these two vehicles, the company will also put the electric hybrid version of A3 on display at the exposition, which will be Asia’s biggest ever.

The head of Audi India, Michael Perschke, said, "The study is going on to introduce S6 in the Indian market. We are thinking to launch it during the second quarter of next year." About the fate of Q3, he commented, "We may launch Q3 in India very soon. It will most probably come in during the second half of 2012."

Talking about sales expectations for the current and coming year, he said that the company aims to sell a total of 5400 cars by the end of 2011 and hopes of rolling out 8000 units. The company is also bolstering its dealership network in India, with the aim of raising the total number of dealers from 15 to 23 by the time 2012 ends. With such aggressive strategies, it seems that the company will attain its goals quite soon.
