The Audi Q2 crossover has been unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, to be launched later this year as the smallest option in the Q range. The Q2 based on the MQB platform will be available with a range of petrol and diesel engine options, and customisable interior to target young buyers.

The Q2 crossover follows the standard Audi design with a single-frame grille at the front. The elements inside however are new and with the slightly angled lower side of the grille, almost look like an octagonal. The crossover is small, measuring 20cm less than the A3 sedan in length and only 10cm more in height. The width of the two cars is almost the same. Even the wheelbase of the crossover is slightly less than the A3, though it should have similar legroom. The boot space of 405litres isn’t too small for an entry-level luxury vehicle.

Inside, the Q2 looks almost the same as the A3. It has circular vents with option to focus or diffuse air flow, fixed screen that sits on top of the dashboard and connects with the MMI. There are options to customise the interior, starting with same coloured inserts for the dashboard and similar seats to match with the exterior.

The Q2 will be available with both the petrol and diesel engine options powering the front-wheels with the S-Tronic gearbox. The petrol range will include the 1.4-litre TFSI and 2.0-litre TFSI producing 148bhp and 187bhp respectively. The diesel on the other hand will have 1.6-litre TDI and 2.0-litre TDI tuned to produce 115bhp and 148bhp.

The crossover will be launched in Europe around July 2016, the India launch should happen sometime next year.
