The Audi Q2 was spotted taking rounds completely undisguised in Newscastle in the UK. This is the first appearance of the crossover on the streets after it’s unveiling at the Geneva Motor show at the start of this month.

There were two types of vehicles spotted testing, one with alloy wheels and the faux silver skid plate, while the other one missed out on the skid plate and rode on black rims. Audi might classify these as different variants but without making major changes to the design or dimensions. The Q2 is 4,190mm in length, 1,790mm in width, 1,510mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,600mm. The single frame octagonal grille, rectangular shaped headlamps and squared LED tail lamps will remain the same.

The interior of the Audi Q2 is equipped with a virtual cockpit system which is highly configurable and doubles up as a navigation display. The MMI infotainment screen will have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility as a standard feature.

Audi will offer the Q2 in six powertrain options including three in petrol and diesel each. The petrol engine options include a 1.0-litre TFSI (114bhp), a 1.4-litre TFSI (148bhp) with cylinder on demand technology and another 2.0-litre TFSI (187bhp). The diesel variants on offer are a 1.6-litre TDI (114bhp), a 2.0-litre TDI (148bhp) and a 2.0-litre TDI (187bhp). Transmission options include a standard six-speed manual with the option of a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The power will be sent to the front wheels in most variants. Some of the versions, mostly the 2.0-litre variants, might also get the Quattro system.

The Audi Q2 is the smallest SUV from the Ingolstadt-based automaker. Bookings for the new vehicle in the UK will start from July this year, but deliveries are only expected to begin in November. We can also expect the Audi Q2 to be introduced in India, but not so soon.
