Mumbai: Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, continued its remarkable performance in India with sales of 450 cars in February 2011 – 79 percent growth over February 2010 sales (252 cars).

According to Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India, “Our outstanding performance in 2010 established Audi as the fastest growing luxury car brand in India and this successful run continues this year too. 2011 is a critical year for Audi in India and we will see the announcement of several initiatives on the product and network front. We recently expanded our product line with the launch of our flagship, the Audi A8 L and the super sports car, the Audi R8 V10, which are now available in showrooms across India. We also added a new diesel variant to the Audi Q5, which will both expand our engine portfolio and sustain our leadership position in the SUV segment.”

“We are looking forward to introducing the all new Audi A6, and the Audi A7 in India. We further strengthened our dealer network with the opening of the Chennai and Delhi showrooms this year, and will soon announce more developments on this front. Our enhanced product line and increased customer touch points will allow us to further build upon the remarkable growth potential that the Indian market offers and enable us to cater to the growing demand of the discerning Indian customer”, he added.

At the Geneva Motor Show this year, Audi showcased its core characteristics of technical finesse and engineering expertise. On display was the high-security version of its flagship, the Audi A8 L, with a host of special security features, in addition to its heavy armoring. Audi also exhibited the newest model in its dynamic RS series – the Audi RS 3. True to the brand’s tradition, the engine of this super sports car boasts five cylinders and turbo-charging technology. Also on display was the Audi Q5 hybrid Quattro, the first mass-produced hybrid model from Audi.

The year 2010 has been an exciting one for Audi globally too. The brand continued to hold its position as No. 1 brand in Europe and China and also became the fastest growing luxury car brand in USA and India. Audi continues to be the market leader in the luxury SUV segment in India and the market leader in the super sportscar segment with its iconic R8.

The Audi model range in India includes Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi A8, Audi Q5, Audi Q7, Audi TT and the super sports car Audi R8 available across the country: in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Ludhiana, Mumbai West and Pune.
