Audi India has reported a significant growth of 63 per cent at 9,003 units in its total sales during 2012 under the review of year-ago period, wherein it delivered 5,511 units. Industry experts believe that the massive growth was achieved owing to the new launches and enhanced dealership network of the German auto maker.
Expressing his views on this, the Head of Audi India, Michael Perschke said, “With an impressive 63 per cent growth in India in 2012, the company has exceeded its annual sales target.”
In 2012, the luxury car maker had set a sales target of 8,000 units, which was achieved by the end of November itself. Following this, Audi India then planned to take the sales target to 8,600 units, which were also left behind by great numbers. He further said, “We have managed to exceed this target as well with a total sale of 9,003 cars. Our strong performance is a result of our diverse product portfolio, network expansion, unique marketing activities and after-sales service.”
During the last calendar year, the auto maker added five models in its Indian portfolio. The bandwagon was started with the launch of Audi TT, which was then followed by the Audi A4, Q3, S4 and Audi A8L 4.2 TDI. Perschke said, “Our offering of compact luxury SUV - Audi Q3 and business luxury limousine, Audi A6 as well as the new Audi A4 have contributed greatly to this record sales performance.”
Reportedly, in 2012, Audi India also concentrated on consolidating its dealership network not just in metros but also in tier II & tier III cities. The auto maker has now expanded its presence in 21 cities with 24 dealerships all over the country.
