      Audi India attains 10 per cent growth in its sales for May 2012

      Audi, the German luxury marque, recorded sales of 450 cars in the Indian auto market in May 2012, marking a growth of 10 per cent under the review of 408 units sold in corresponding period last year. Between January and May 2012, the company sold 3,281 units, registering a sales growth of 37 per cent compared to 2,394 units delivered between January and May 2011.

      Addressing the success, Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India, quoted, “In 2012, we will continue our strategic course of product expansion and launch attractive vehicles in the market for sustainable and profitable growth. Thanks to our bestsellers new Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi Q5 and Audi Q7 SUVs, and ever growing dealer network, we moved into the number-two position among premium car makers in the first quarter. I am confident that the debut of Audi Q3 this year will not only ensure that Audi maintains its position as the fastest growing luxury car brand in India but also boost our sales. As we inch closer to the pole position, we will continually enhance and diversify our product portfolio offering our brand promise ‘Vorsprung Durch Technik’ and further expand our dealership network.”

      The brand with four rings recorded impressive growth in Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) segment of the Indian market, which was mainly driven by Audi Q5 and Q7. In order to further consolidate its presence in SUV segment, the company has planned to break the cover of Audi Q3 in June 2012. As per as sports car the segment is concerned, the company rejoices with Audi R8, RS5 and the newly introduced Audi TT Coupe.

      Along with introducing new offerings in the market, the company is also focussing towards opening new dealerships in the country. Recently, Audi inaugurated new facilities in Coimbatore, Delhi West, Nagpur and its second state-of-the-art outlet in Madhya Pradesh. Last year, the company expanded its presence in Delhi South, Chennai, Ludhiana, Surat and Indore. Besides this, Audi’s further approach includes Lucknow and Mumbai South. The current number of Audi’s showrooms in India stands at 19, whereas the company has planned to take it to 25 by the end of 2012.

      In the current scenario, the Indian product portfolio of Audi includes Audi A4, A6, A7 Sportback, A8L, Q5, Q7, RS5 Coupe and the Audi TT. In addition, the company has also offered a super sports car Audi R8 and the Audi R8 Spyder.
