      Audi Announces Profits and New Plans for India

      Audi has posted dizzying profit figures for the first quarter of 2008. It has announced a growth of 123 percent by selling 321 units during January to April 2008.

      Audi now plans for a 30 percent market share in India by the year 2010. It also aims to sell 3000 units of luxury cars in the country. It shall soon launch its new model A4 sedan in India in July. The car shall be imported till November as completely built unit and shall be prices at Rs. 29 lakh. The car shall certainly be tweaked as per the Indian driving conditions and Indian customers.

      According to Benoit Tiers, Managing Director, Audi India, Audi shall synchronise its operations with VW and Skoda but will not use VW’s Pune manufacturing facility. Its cars shall roll out from Skoda’s plant in Aurangabad. A new line for A4 is also under construction there.

      It is also planning to open new dealership for better sales which shall have a totally new approach. If the new approach is successful, it shall be implemented. Details about this new approach were not revealed by Tiers. It is opening new dealerships in Pune, Ludhiana, Kochi and Ahmedabad.

      Audi is also carrying out talks with certain bank tie-ups for financing its models.
