      Audi aims to snatch top position from BMW by 2015

      Audi, a fully owned subsidiary of Germany based Volkswagen Group, is gearing-up to enhance its global portfolio by adding a series of new models in its stable. Through this portfolio expansion, the company is aiming to topple its arch rival BMW in emerging markets like India.

      Speaking at Audi’s annual press conference in Ingolstadt (Germany), company’s Chief Executive Officer Rupert Stadler said on Tuesday, “We expect further growth in the long term.” He added, “This gives us the confidence to extend our product range and expand our international activities.”

      The company aims to snatch the position of the biggest luxury-auto maker from BMW in next four years, through boosting sales figures in the markets like India and China. The company is aggressively launching its global portfolio models in these emerging markets. The Audi cars that were introduced across these economies include A8 sedan, new A7 Sportback and A1 subcompact which is the smallest in the fleet.

      Moreover the company will roll-out as many as 13 upgraded new car models in the current year that comprises of A6 sedan and compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) Q3.
