Audi A3 - Luxury sedan loaded with rich interiors, modern features and comfort

German carmaker Audi has been a brand that has always been known for quality built, efficiency, performance and luxury. Audi reportedly has been working on launching its entry level A3 sedan in India as a completely knocked down unit. The luxury sedan is due for launch on August 7th, 2014. Bookings for the Audi A3 sedan began on 1st August at an attractive price of about Rs. 3.5 Lakhs. The local manufacturing and assembling facility shall aid Audi in keeping the final product price affordable and well within reach. Local assembly of A3 has already commenced and is reportedly in-making at the Aurangabad facility.

The Audi A3 sedan has been spotted on various occasions undergoing road tests in different cities across India in an attempt to further enhance its potential in India. Audi A3 will weigh around 1250 kgs and will come with a capacious boot space of 425 litres. Powering petrol range of A3, christened '40 TFSI’ will be a 1.8 litre, four cylinder TFSI engine capable of outputting a top power of 180 Bhp along with a peak torque of 250 Nm. The engine will be paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch S-Tronic tranny. Diesel trims, dubbed, ’35 TDI’ on the other hand will come housed with a 2.0 liter, four cylinder, powertrain capable of engendering a pinnacle power and torque output of 143 Bhp and 320 Nm respectively. A six-speed S-Tronic gearbox will be mated to the engine. Audi’s new saloon will be made available in petrol and diesel guise.

The A3 sedan shall feature some interesting features like 7-inch retractable display, Smart interior lights, Rear View camera and upmarket leather upholstery. The sedan may also get one-touch easy access sunroof and electronically adjustable front seats. Though the vehicle may be offered at a budget friendly price tag, Audi shall not majorly compromise on the overall comfort and features.

As per ARAI test figures, the petrol version of Audi A3 states to deliver a fuel economy of about 16.6 kmpl, whereas the diesel version is expected to deliver about 20.38 kmpl. Audi has not spoken about the official price tag yet, but based on assumptions the A3 sedan is expected to be priced between Rs. 25 lakh to Rs 30 lakh.
