      Audi A3 Cabriolet launching soon

      Audi India is gearing up to expand the A3 range in the country. We reported earlier that the German maker is aiming to introduce the hatchback version of the A3 in the Indian car market in 2015. At the 2014 Delhi Motor Show, Audi unveiled the A3 Cabriolet alongside the sedan version. Now, the company is gearing up to launch the A3 Cabriolet in the Indian market soon.

      A 4-seater convertible version of the A3 Cabriolet will make its way to India. It features a conventional soft top that opens and closes in less than 18 seconds and works at speeds up to 50kmph. The company has used ultra-high-strength steel and aluminium in its development, which makes it lighter than the previous model.

      Under the hood is the 1.8-litre turbocharged, 4-cylinder petrol unit producing 180PS of power and 350Nm of torque. The company might also introduce the diesel version, which is likely to get 2.0-litre TDI unit producing 150PS of top power. The Audi A3 Cabriolet is 4.42 metres long, 1.79 metre wide and 1.41 metre high, and it comes with a large wheelbase of 2.60 metre.

      The front fascia of the car is equipped with a single frame radiator grille that is complemented by flat headlamps that can light the way using halogen or xenon bulbs. The interiors of the Audi A3 Cabriolet will be shared with the sedan version, and features the same infotainment screen for the Audi MMI.

      On safety front, the vehicle gets several features including Anti-Lock braking system, Electronic stability programme, traction control, airbags and others. It will come as a CBU unit, and is likely to be priced around Rs. 40 lakh.
