The German luxury car maker Audi has stated that it is not very much interested in launching its minicar A1 in India too soon. The company states that the car is not commercially viable in the present market scenario. According to a senior representative of Audi, “the market dynamics in countries like China and India are fast changing,” he said. However, he remained optimistic about both the markets and added that it would take half the time for markets in India and China to develop than it took to develop in Europe.

The Audi A1 is a supermini-class car expected to be launched In India by 2010 and Audi A3 is an entry-level luxury car based on the Volkswagen Group A platform, which may not be launched soon. However, it may launch its A6 sedan model and cross over SUV Q5 in the country this year.

The company so far continues to register robust growth in sales for the third consecutive month. Audi India registered a growth of 56 per cent with the sales of 162 cars in March as compared to 104 cars sold during March 2008. It registered an impressive growth of sales of 384 cars in the first quarter of 2009 which is nearly 76 percent growth.
