When you are out to build one of the fastest cars the world has ever seen, you rope in the best of all worlds to make sure you do exactly what you have planned to. So Aston Martin got Red Bull racing on board for the AM RB001 and now we also have Cosworth. The legendary British performance engine maker has built a V12 to power the new hypercar.

The engine in question is a 6.5-litre V12, a high revving naturally aspirated mill that is expected to belt out 912bhp of power and certainly about 1000Nm of torque. If that doesn’t sound like music, the exhaust note certainly will and it will come mated to a seven-speed Ricardo gearbox. With the F1 tech coming in from Red Bull Racing, the AM-RB001 will have the KERS system to harness kinetic energy. Electric car maker Rimac will help them with the ultra-light hybrid batteries while Bosch will develop a bespoke stability program for the hypercar.

With almost an open-wheel design, the minimal bodywork is built in carbon-fibre with the target for the dry kerb weight being to restrict it under a tonne. Which means almost a 1:1 power to weight ratio and adding Adrian Newey’s aerodynamics to it, the Koenigseggs and the Paganis will certainly be taking notice of the new kid on the block. Only 150 examples of this Aston Martin will be built and 25 of them will be track-spec only. James Bond would certainly have his fingers crossed to know if he can lay his hands on one!
