Camouflaged test-mule of the all-new Hyundai Verna has been spotted testing in India and the almost finished version of the test-mule indicates that the car is almost production ready. The new Hyundai Verna is expected to be launched in the second half of the calendar-year 2017. We expect Hyundai to launch the car before Diwali to cash in on the festive season.

The styling is akin to the new Hyundai Xcent that we have seen last month with the chrome-laden grille and swept back headlamps. The Verna will get LED daytime running lamps embedded in the headlamp unit and bumper mounted fog lamps. The tail lamps will be LED and pan horizontally across the boot. The interior will represent the Hyundai Elantra and Tucson in terms of equipment and feel. Under the hood, you will continue having the 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engine options like the current car.

Hyundai has already launched the new Verna in China last year and it is the same car which is expected to come to India with a few changes to suite the Indian tastes. In India, the Verna has been benchmarked against the Honda City, which means, you can expect better leg-room than the outgoing car. Also, we have witnessed a certain improvement in handling characteristics of new Hyundai cars over the past three years and we expect the Verna to be a much better handler than its predecessor.
