Dealers in the country had started accepting bookings of the performance oriented Fiat Abarth Punto at a token amount of Rs 50,000 a while ago. The vehicle is finally set for launch early next week. Post launch, the vehicle is expected to emerge as a strong competitor against VW Polo GT TSI already serving in India. The vehicle is indeed one of most powerful hatchback in its segment.
The new Fiat Punto Abarth comes loaded with all modern safety equipments like dual-stage driver and passenger bags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), hydraulic brake assistance, electronic stability programme (ESP) and hill-start assist control. Additionally, the company shall also offer side bags window bags and driver knee bags. Under the hood, the hatchback gets 1.4-litre T-Jet turbocharged petrol engine that generates impressive 145bhp of power. The company shall offer the new model in five-speed manual transmission and return a decent mileage figure of about 16.3km/l. The powerful version is capable of clocking a 0-100km/h in just about 8.8 seconds.
The new model being performance inclined comes with a lower ride height of about 20mm. The vehicle gets 16-inches dual tone alloy wheels wrapped with 195/55 R16 Apollo tyres. On the exteriors its gets - ORVMs in contrast shade and a well-designed rear, Abarth badges, front grille with contrast horizontal slats, and secondary air dams. As for the interiors, the hatchback gets Abarth badge on the steering wheel, machined pedals, new seat upholstery with contrasting yellow stitching.
