Currently in development, the 2017 model marks the third major update for the Beat since its launch in the Indian market. On the outside, there will be a new font-end, taillight and alloy wheels. The cabin, meanwhile, will get some upgrades, too, with new upholstery and minor design changes.

Under the hood, engine options will remain unchanged. This means buyers will be able to choose between the existing 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine producing 75bhp/106Nm and the 1-litre diesel producing 57bhp/142Nm. Both engines are paired to a five-speed manual.

The 2017 Beat will continue to compete with cars like the Tata Tigo and the Maruti Suzuki Celerio. Besides the hatchback, Chevrolet is also developing the Beat Essentia compact sedan. The latter will go up against the likes of Honda Amaze, Maruti Swift Dzire and the Hyundai Xcent.
