Tata Nexon is the company’s new upcoming compact SUV that will be making its way into the Indian car market by the end of next year or early 2017. This is a compact SUV that will be under four metres and it will be a five-seater based on the Bolt platform. The Nexon is undergoing intensive testing at the moment.
It is too early to say much on this compact SUV, but following are the details that we have:
Tata Nexon will have styling somewhat inspired by the Range Rover Evoque
Tata Nexon is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.3-litre diesel engine
Tata Nexon will get Harman music system and it will also get voice command system
Tata Nexon’s diesel engine will come with an AMT (automated manual transmission)
Tata Nexon will have a ground clearance in excess of 190mm
This new compact SUV will be priced at Rs 7-10.5 lakhs and is being made with inputs from the Jaguar Land Rover team. The design, driving dynamics and even the interior styling is being done with inputs from the company’s UK R&D centre. Tata Motors is looking at capitalising on this segment and is working on a product that it claims to be the best in its segment. The other brands that are entering and existing in this segment include the Maruti YBA, Mahindra TUV300, Mahindra Quanto, Hyundai new compact SUV and the Ford Ecosport.
