The new S Class, codenamed W222 will have the high-end S500 as its first product, merged with a twin turbo V8 engine developing a massive 455 bhp at 5500 rpm with a peak torque of 700 Nm at 3500 rpm. With only the petrol variant arriving in the Indian market, the model will feature a rear wheel drive chassis, fitted with a 7-speed automatic gearbox accelerating at a mammoth top speed of 250 kmph. Also, it can smoothly accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.8 seconds.

Coming to its exteriors, the hallmark three pointed star is mounted on a large radiator, flaunting a large bonnet at the front, sloping down and elegantly merging into the rear end. The whole body is lumped with LED lights and a glimpse of it can be seen inside the car as well. The interiors have been refined tastefully and incorporate a 12-inch TFT screen for entertainment purpose with leather interiors, digital radio, Command Sat Nav, Bluetooth, and online connectivity. A feature of Magic-Body control is provided in the car which adjusts the vehicle suspension on unsteady roads with the help of a camera installed behind the rear view mirror, which scans the forthcoming road.

In a nutshell, the Mercedes-Benz S Class 2013 suffices the luxury aspect of its maker to perfection and will appeal to its regal customers for sure. With a hefty price tag of almost Rs. 1.10 crore, the S Class will be competing with its former rivals BMW 7 series, Audi A8 and Jaguar XJR. Though these range appeals to a certain mass of the Indian market but people should not be disheartened as with the advancement in technology, the features employed in these high-end cars will soon be provided in the mid-range cars as well.
