The 64th IAA International Motor Show flagged-off on Tuesday in Frankfurt, Germany. The world’s largest and the most prominent auto show has a record of unwrapping plethora of out-of-the-way and lately manifested launches. Therefore, this time too, the occasion surfaced on the same lines of promises, with some interesting and exciting cars being showcased. It is believed to have a presence of around 1,000 exhibitors that are taking part from 35 countries. Moreover, a minimum of 80 world premieres are expected in the upcoming days.
This show holds quite relevance for the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) nations. The reason is that cars from these markets are primarily being lined up for display, showing signs of growth whereas much of European market is facing a slowdown. Some of these models carry great significance for the Indian market.
The IAA takes place within a very large exhibition area in Frankfurt, and this year, Audi outperformed the other brands by offering a vast display area, where the people could actually test-drive the cars. The RS5, a performance coupe available in India, was staged with some upgradation, as was the case with the RS version of the A3 and the TT.
Jaguar and Land Rover also drew great amount of attention during the show. Jaguar had in store, the CX-16 concept, which is claimed by the company as its vision for the sports car of the future. With an all-aluminium construction, this two-seater sports car features a mettlesome 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine, in addition to an electric motor, making it a hybrid that build up a lot of expectations on the part of the consumers.
The legendary Land Rover Defender, which is believed to be the most furious off-road vehicle ever made, also prepares itself for a new version. On display were the DC100 and DC100 Sports concepts.
The Volkswagen group with its Up, a hatchback, at the show, sincerely hopes to make the car a people's car.
Skoda showed the MissionL concept, a sedan that is likely to be a replacement for the Octavia in India.
Thus, the largest Motor show is expected to welcome many more designs and creations in the coming time, that would relate themselves to the future era of cars worldwide.
