The Indian automotive industry being one of the biggest globally, is flooded with a wide range of new cars for buyers to choose from. With so many options, the buyers often find themselves in a dilemma to pick the right one. To ease your stress, here we have listed 5 upcoming cars that you may consider buying:

Datsun redi-GO: The Datsun redi-GO is particularly for those who want a budget friendly stylish hatchback. In terms of looks, the redi-GO has indeed stayed true to its concept form which was showcased way back in 2014. The hatchback is based on the Kwid’s CMF-A platform and will be offered with an 800cc, three-cylinder engine which generates 57bhp of power and 90Nm of torque. The modest engine will come mated to a five-speed manual transmission. It is believed that a bigger 1.0-litre engine with AMT option might debut at a later date. On the pricing aspect, we expect that the redi-GO might be priced between Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 3.5 lakh. The bookings for the redi-GO have commenced earlier this month for a token amount of Rs 5,000.

Volkswagen Ameo: The Ameo will mark Volkswagen’s entry into the compact sedan segment. This car fills in the gap for customers who have been long waiting to see a compact sedan from the German automaker. In petrol, the Ameo will get a 1.2-litre MPI, three-cylinder engine that will generate 74bhp power and 110Nm of torque. The diesel on the other hand will get a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder engine which generates 89bhp of power and 230Nm of torque. For now, both the engines will come mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, while the DSG automatic might be introduced at a later date. We anticipate that the Ameo will be offered in a price range of Rs 6lakh – Rs 8 lakh.

Maruti Swift limited edition: The Swift hatchback from Maruti Suzuki needs no introduction. The stylish and popular hatchback will thrill its fans further with its limited edition variant. The Swift limited edition will continue to be powered by 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine which generates 83bhp of power and 115Nm of torque, while diesel variant will be powered by 1.3-litre DDiS engine which generates 74bhp of power with 190Nm of torque. The car will continue to come mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The limited edition will come loaded with faux-leather seats with red and white inserts, red stitching for the gear knob, leather wrapped steering wheel, aluminum pedals and sporty graphics on the exterior.

Isuzu D-Max V-Cross: This one is particularly for those who need a muscular beast to drive in. The Isuzu D-Max V-Cross can be registered as a private vehicle. The five-seat pick-up truck is available in a four-wheel-drive configuration. Under the hood, the vehicle gets a 2.5-litre Common Rail Fuel Injection Diesel BSIV compliant Engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission that generates 132bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. The V-Cross comes with an interesting shift-on-the-fly four-wheel-drive knob that allows the driver to switch between two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive mode. The D-Max V-Cross has no real direct competitors for now in the Indian market. Bookings for this pick-up has commenced at Rs 50,000 and is likely to be launched at an introductory starting price of Rs 12.5 lakh.

Mercedes-Benz GLS: Fondly known as the S-Class of SUVs, the Mercedes-Benz GLS will debut soon in India. The premium SUV will get all modern safety features and upmarket upholstery that one can desire. The GLS will be offered with four engine options - GLS550 4Matic with a V8 biturbo engine that generates 443bhp of power and 700Nm of torque while the GLS450 4MATIC will get a 3.0-litre V6 biturbo engine which generates 357bhp of power and 760Nm of torque. The GLS350d 4MATIC gets a V6 diesel engine that generates 252bhp of power and 617Nm of torque and the top-of-the-range Mercedes-AMG GLS63 generates 569bhp of power and 760Nm of torque. The car is expected to be priced between Rs 80 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore.
