Recently introduced in the European market, Maruti Suzuki Swift is expected to be launched in India in the month of August 2011. An estimated 38,000 registrations has been completed for the vehicle till date. The new car looks longer and wider than its previous versions with hardly any modifications in the engine. The new Maruti Suzuki Swift would be available in petrol and diesel variants. Coming from a brand automaker, the upcoming new Maruti Suzuki Swift surely aroused the industry players and the customers alike.
Arguably, this is the first time that a new model has gained such a huge pre-launching response in Indian auto industry. Mayank Parsec, managing executive officer (sales & marketing) of the company said, “The strong response is unprecedented, particularly because the new model has not yet hit the showrooms and pricing points have not been decided”.
The company has shown some innovations to increase fuel efficiency by replacing the heavier fuel tank with a lighter plastic fuel tank. This would considerably increase the fuel-efficiency by 5 to 6 %. The company now controls 48% share in the premium hatchback segment in the country. The company estimates the share to reach 53% in 2011 with the launch of Maruti Suzuki Swift. Predictably, the new car would be competing with the likes of Hyundai i20 and Ford Figo among others.
The interiors of this third-generation Maruti Swift are creatively styled. The initial industry response towards the new model has been positive. Experts opine that the new version looks more sleek and stunning, as opposed to the previous models. With additional features such as sporty dials, automatic climate control and Bluetooth, the new car is expected to make a wave in the industry.
Analysts of the industry are of the view that the new Maruti Suzuki Swift would be one of the finest vehicles in the small car category.
