      3 new compact MPVs launching in India this year

      With the growing demand for compact cars, car manufacturers are launching their compact cars in all the segments such as sedan, SUV and MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle). The compact MPVs have seen an increase in demand in recent years. In order to capitalize on the growing popularity of MPVs, car makers are readying their vehicles to launch in the market. Here is a list of Multi-purpose vehicles launching this year in India:

      Datsun Go+ MPV- It will be the second Datsun car in the Indian car market. Already available in the Indonesian market, this seven-seater sub-4 metre MPV will go on sale in the country on January 15, 2015. Based on the Go hatchback, the Go+ MPV will be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 67bhp of power and 109Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. It will be the cheapest MPV in the country and is likely to be priced around Rs. 4 to Rs. 5.5 lakh.

      Maruti Ertiga Facelift- Seeing the growing competition, Maruti Suzuki India is aiming to give a mild makeover to its successful Ertiga MPV. The updated model will get some technical upgrades and few exterior & interior tweaks. Likely to go on sale in the first half of this year, this compact MPV will get new features like Bluetooth-enabled music system, keyless entry, new upholstery for seats, Push Start/Stop button, etc. The vehicle is also expected to be 10 per cent more fuel efficient than the current model.

      Maruti Suzuki Ertiga
       

      Renault Lodgy MPV- French automaker, Renault has recently revealed the India-spec Lodgy MPV. It is expected to go on sale in the country in first quarter 2015 and will rival against the likes of Honda Mobilio, Nissan Evalia and Toyota Innova. This MPV will share its engine lineup with the Duster SUV. It will be powered by a 1.5-litre K9K diesel unit that offers two states of tunes- 85PS and 110PS.
