The next few months will see the launch of many of the cars that were displayed at the 2016 Auto Expo. In July, we will see at least three cars being rolled out in the Indian market and here are more details on each of them.
Jeep Grand Cherokee: Jeeps are not always rugged off-roaders. They also make everyday luxury SUVs like the Grand Cherokee. But be assured that with its lineage, the Grand Cherokee will give many off-roaders a run for their money. While it is soft and luxurious inside with the leather upholstery, touch-screen infotainment, separate zone climate control et al, the mechanicals are highly capable. It gets 3.0-litre V6 diesel and the humungous 6.4-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine options with automatic transmission and four-wheel-drive with crawl control.
Jeep Wrangler: Jeep had announced its India arrival at the Auto Expo 2016 and the Wrangler is going to be one of the first cars to hit the Indian roads. To be launched this month, the premium utility vehicle will offer Indian off-road enthusiasts a capable off-roader. The four-door Wrangler Unlimited comes with a removable plastic roof, a tail gate mounted stepney. It is powered by 2.8-litre diesel motor that makes 197bhp and 500Nm of torque and comes with four-wheel-drive and a low range gearbox.
Volkswagen Polo GTi: Volkswagen has already unveiled the Polo GTi at the Auto Expo 2016 and we expect the German car maker to launch it this month. For those who think this is another Polo, be assured that this car will smoke out most of the performance sedans on road. Powered by the 1.8-litre TSi engine that generates a staggering 190bhp of power, this hatchback boasts of a power-to-weight ratio better than many performance sedans.
