The monstrous GT500 version of the sixth-generation Ford Mustang has been spotted testing in the US. While it looks similar to the regular Mustang, the aero kit and revised bumpers give it an imposing look.

The GT500 is based on the same S550 platform which underpins the sixth-generation Mustang. The sparsely camouflaged Mustang GT500 previews a mildly revised tail section and the new wheel design. The new car rides on new 20-inch wheels with beefy 305 profile Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres. At the heart of the Mustang GT500 is a 5.2-litre supercharged engine. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a DCT transmission.

Back in 2013, the GT500 had the most powerful production V8 in existence, delivering 662bhp. So we can easily expect the new model to churn out more than 700bhp. The Mustang GT500 is expected to debut next year as a 2019 model.
