The German carmaker showcased the SEDRIC Concept last year. The SEDRIC (Self DRIving Car) is Volkswagen’s idea of future mobility for sustainable, safe and convenient transportation at the touch of a button. Volkswagen is mulling to be the leading manufacturer for autonomous driving as a part of its "TOGETHER - Strategy 2025" future programme. The carmaker is concentrating on the development of Self-Driving System (SDS) to provide the individual mobility of the future. The SEDRIC has served as a platform for cross-brand ideas for automated driving and now aims to transport kids to school without a bus driver. Volkswagen likes to call it the “Cool Bus”.

The German carmaker believes that using such autonomous shuttle will help in overcoming the congested cites issues such as pollution and traffic safety. Moreover, the OneButton control element to call up a self-driving electric vehicle at your doorstep is convenient, safe and fun for the future generation according to Volkswagen. Although still a bit futuristic, the SEDRIC boasts of generous cabin proportions, OLED screen for onboard entertainment and aluminium boxes decorated with stickers for two of the four seats. The other two seats are wrapped in stylish upholstery and there is a chalkboard too on the doors.
