The third-generation Toyota Auris made its official debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.

      Auris

The compact hatchback now comes powered by two hybrid powertrains. The new Auris moves to the new TNGA platform and has grown in size. The wheelbase is 40mm longer, the car is 30mm wider and it sits 25mm lower than the outgoing car. The styling departs from the traditional Toyota lines to modern Lexus-like elements like the massive bumper grille, sharp headlamps with DRLs and integrated nose grille. The two-tone silhouette is complemented by the creases and wheel arches. Meanwhile, at the rear, aggressive styling continues with protruding bumpers, a stylish tailgate and the subtle rear spoiler.

Powering the new Auris is a choice of one conventional engine, two hybrid powertrains but no diesel option at all. The 1.2-litre turbo petrol unit will be joined by 122bhp 1.8-litre and 180bhp 2.0-litre hybrids. The 1.8-litre hybrid is silent, intuitive, responsive and self-sufficient with low cost of ownership, outstanding fuel economy and 50 per cent electric drive on daily commute says Toyota. Meanwhile, the 2.0-litre hybrid adds better driver’s enjoyment with steering mounted paddle-shifters. The new Auris will GO on sale later this year. Prices aren’t announced yet but the third-gen hatch will continue to rival the European superminis like the Volkswagen Golf, Peugeot 308, Vauxhall Astra, Honda Civic and the Hyundai i30.
