We had told you about the impending launch of the 2017 facelift of the Volvo V40 last month. Volvo has launched the updated V40 in India today with the prices starting from Rs 25.49 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. Bookings for the facelifted V40 hatchback and the V40 Cross Country have begun and the deliveries are expected to start in January 2017.

This is a mid-life update for the V40s and the only changes to the exterior are the new Thor’s hammer headlamps, front grille and alloy wheels. The grille is now vertically slatted to match the new trademark looks that begin with the XC90. The R-design though gets a square-mesh grille and slightly more aggressive bumpers for it to stand out. The Cross Country gets its dose of steroids and extra ground clearance.

Being a luxury offering, a long list of creature comforts is a given. Being a Volvo, the V40 exudes safety which is built in its construction as well as with the safety cocoon of seven airbags, ESP and driving aids. The V40, though, is the first Volvo to get pedestrian airbags for the Indian market. While not much has changed except for the new infotainment system. The V40 can be ordered in three choices for the leather upholstery while the Cross Country gets five including a dual-tone scheme.

Under the hood, you have the 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine which develops 150bhp of power and 350Nm of torque and comes mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Both the V40 hatchback and the V40 Cross-Country get front wheel drive. The new engine comes with even lower emissions than the earlier one.

Prices (Ex-showroom, Delhi):

V40 D3 R-Design - INR 28.53 Lakh

V40 D3 Kinetic- INR 25.49 Lakh

V40 Cross Country D3 Inscription - INR 29.4 Lakh

V40 Cross Country T4 Momentum -  INR 27.2 Lakh
